LEADING BY EXAMPLE

Staunch Double Bay advocate Brad Weintraub is a stickler for presentation and would love to see Double Bay looking even more beautiful.

"I know it looks great already" said Brad, "but what if it was so outstanding that people just couldn't stay away?"

Not one to rest on his laurels Brad has brought his own bit of beauty to Double Bay.

If you, or someone you know, has also brought a bit of beauty to Double Bay let us know by sending a picture to friends@discoverdoublebay.com.au

We'll be happy to publish the image online and give credit to the person concerned.

Also please feel free to call 0408 998 058 to let us know your thoughts on the topic.

END OF DAY IN DOUBLE BAY

The Curfew tolls the knell of parting day,
The lowing herd wind slowly o'er the lea,
The ploughman homeward plods his weary way,
And leaves the world to darkness and to me.

Now fades the glimmering landscape on the sight,
And all the air a solemn stillness holds,
Save where the beetle wheels his droning flight,
And drowsy tinklings lull the distant folds;

Save that from yonder ivy-mantled tower
The moping owl does to the moon complain
Of such as, wandering near her secret bower,
Molest her ancient solitary reign.

Beneath those rugged elms, that yew-tree's shade,
Where heaves the turf in many a mouldering heap,
Each in his narrow cell for ever laid,
The rude forefathers of the hamlet sleep.
