WORK STARTS ON NEW HOTEL REFURBISHMENT

No-one's quite sure when the new hotel will open, but at least we are now seeing some action at 33 Cross Street and a site office has been opened on the ground floor of the building.

Despite some published claims of an opening in early 2014, the middle of the year is seen as more likely, with a few even suggesting an opening date of September or October.

Following the major success in 2013 the Double Bay Street Festival will run again on the First Sunday of November.

DBSF Sunday the 3rd of November 2013 was an extremely successful day with over 60,000 people coming and participating in all the fun of the day.

With over 250 stalls, Rides, Crocodile Encounters, 2 Live stages with 12 acts, Roving entertainers, Chill out zone and Camel Rides…. There was something here for all ages.

It’s now over for another year, but not too worry, DBSF 2014 in already in planning.

INTERCONTINENTAL HOTEL GETS THE GO AHEAD - UNANIMOUS APPROVAL

On Monday 2/12/13 Woollahra Council unanimously approved $11 Million Dollars worth of renovations to the old Stamford Plaza hotel in Cross Street Double Bay.

The business community and most residents heaved a sigh of relief that the empty hotel will now become the new 5 star boutique InterContinental Hotel Double Bay.

There will be a new street level cafe, refurbished public areas on levels one and two and a rooftop pool, bar and restaurant.

Construction work can now begin and it is expected that the hotel will open mid 2014.

WOOLLAHRA WHITE RIBBON PROMISE

Members of the local community are invited to join us in a symbolic promise to raise awareness on the issue of violence against women and condemn all kinds of violence.

This event is hosted by Woollahra Council in partnership with Community of Schools in the Eastern Suburbs (CoSiES), JewishCare, Sailability, Bondi Beach Cottage, Men’s Chat Group and Holdsworth Community Centre and Services.

There will be a display of artwork prepared by local White Ribbon schools.

In addition, there will be a display of information on the White Ribbon campaign, fundraising, ribbon sales and information on partner organisations. Food and drinks will be available and people are encouraged to mingle, network and explore possible partnerships to build a strong health community free from violence.
